One time Krish had a gig and couldn’t walk Vaani home.

“Why do you look like you just broke my baking tray?”

“Like what?”

“Guilty.”

The circumstances might be different, but she was right about one thing. The guilt. Krish was feeling bad for what he was about to tell her.

“I can’t walk you home.”

Her eyebrows immediately furrowed.

“I have a gig with my band. I’m leaving in a few minutes.”

Vaani blinked. “You came all the way here to tell me that?”

“Promise is promise.” He shrugged.

Was he really the same guy who slammed the door in her face? Not once, multiple times.

But again, he let me borrow his hammer.

He was also her protector and he even offered to stay with her when it was only like their eighth time meeting. Ninth?

Why is he so …?

Anyways.

“Where is the gig? Can I come with you?” If he thought she would let him off the hook after short-circuiting her brain, then unfortunately he was wrong.

“It’s far.”

“I’m asking where.”

“It’s at an underground music club. You’re not gonna like it there. Super crowded. People drink and smoke, some do drugs.”
